Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve their 5th Sunday Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30, in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington St. Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast. For more information, call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Class of 1984 reunion

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1984 reunion is planned for Saturday, July 6. Please RSVP to Lynn Arguello by emailing llynniearguello@gmail.com or calling 970-306-5400 if you have not already done so.

All of the festivities will take place at the Terrace Bluff Golf Club in Gladstone. The evening will include appetizers, a cash bar, DJ’d dancing, and golf.

There is a cost to attend and an additional cost for golfing. Contact Arguello for cost and payment information.

Library holiday hours

GLADSTONE — Independence Day holiday hours for the Gladstone Public Library are Wednesday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed July 4.

Summer hours resume on Monday, July 8. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Class of 1964 reunion

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone High School Class of 1964 will hold a dinner reunion July 3. Contact Susan at 920-265-6407 or Linda at 231-510-0617 for details and reservations.

Book donations needed

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

There is a new drop-off site this year. Books can be delivered to the Daily Press Business Office at 600 Ludington Street during normal business hours. You can also call Pat Rudden at 280-1789 for pick-up.

Stroke awareness 5K

ESCANABA — A stroke awareness 5K run and walk will be held July 20 in memory of Ardith Felzke, who died on July 8, 2018 following a stroke.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to patients of OSF Rehabilitation to benefit those who have suffered the effects of a stroke.

Participants registering before July 1 will receive a t-shirt. Businesses can sponsor the event to have their name included on the commemorative shirt.

The race will begin at noon EDT on the Felch Grade Trail. Parking for the event is at 5653 I Road in Escanaba. Maps of the area as well as registration and sponsorship information is available on Facebook. Search for “Stroke Awareness 5k Run/Walk: In Memory of Ardith Felzke.”

Awards will be given to the top three winners. All participants are invited to stick around after the race for a barbecue.

Dance in Rock

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd, on Sunday, July 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. Come enjoy the music of Ron Jay & The Country Strangers.

There is a cost at the door. A free will donation lunch will be provided.

Legion opens library

RAPID RIVER — Walter W. Cole American Legion Post 301 in Rapid River has opened a library in the legion hall.

The library is free to all and is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Service Officer Wednesday, as well as any other days that the hall is open to the public.
