Escanaba Class of 1984 reunion set for July 6

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Class of 1984 reunion is planned for Saturday, July 6. Please RSVP to Lynn Arguello by emailing llynniearguello@gmail.com or calling 970-306-5400 if you have not already done so.

All of the festivities will take place at the Terrace Bluff Golf Club in Gladstone. The evening will include appetizers, a cash bar, DJ’d dancing, and golf.

There is a cost to attend and an additional cost to golfing. Contact Arguello for cost and payment information.

Wells Lions 52 club ­raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of June 24 is Jodi Punzel of Escanaba. Punzel won $100. This was week 47 of the raffle.

The Compassionate Friends to meet today

ESCANABA — Anyone who has had a child die in their family is invited to attend the Thursday, June 27 meeting of the Southern Upper Peninsula Chapter of The Compassionate Friends at 7 p.m.. The meeting will be held in the front conference room at Escanaba High School.

Compassionate Friends is a nonprofit self-help bereavement support organization for families that have experienced the death of a child. When a child dies, at any age, for any reason, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provide highly personal comfort, hope, and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.

An international organization, The Compassionate Friends has more than 650 chapters in the United States with locations in all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. The nearest chapter to Escanaba is in Green Bay, Wis.

The meetings in Escanaba are held on the fourth Thursday monthly except for November and December. Meetings are from 7 to 9 p.m. in the front conference room at Escanaba High School, 500 South Lincoln Road.

Gladstone Public Library hours for holiday

GLADSTONE — Independence Day holiday hours for the Gladstone Public Library are Wednesday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed July 4.

Summer hours resume on Monday, July 8. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Eagles breakfast June 30

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve their 5th Sunday Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30 in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington St., Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast. For more information, call the Escanaba Eagles Club at 786-3451.

Heart of the North Lions change meeting date

BARK RIVER — Due to the Fourth of July, the Heart of the North Lions Club regular monthly meeting will be held the second Thursday, July 11, at 6:45 p.m. at the Bark River Area Senior Center.

Heart of the North Lions Club welcomes new members. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 6:45 p.m. If you are interested in giving back to your community, you are invited to visit a meeting and see if Lions is for you.
