Community service Lions Club to meet

WELLS — The Bay de Noc Lions ‘Community Service’ Club and future E-Club welcomes everyone interested in their group to join other volunteers on Thursday, June 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wells Township Hall in Wells.

Guests are asked to bring ideas for community service projects and should expect to experience personal growth and witness the impact they will have helping others.

Dr. Keirsten Smith at North Woods Place

ESCANABA — Dr. Keirsten Smith will visit North Woods Place Tuesday, June 18 to discuss arthritis pain and treatment from 2 to 3 p.m.

Ice cream social and book sale for library

ESCANABA — The Friends of the Escanaba Public Library invites the community to the Annual Ice Cream and Book Sale Social Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m.

The Escanaba City Band will provide entertainment while guests peruse used books for sale and enjoy cake and ice cream.

The social is the kick-off for the Escanaba Library’s children summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Universe of Stories.”

Weather conditions will decide if the event will be held outside in the library’s garden or inside the library.

Provided eating will be limited so bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, etc.

The event is also the grand reopening of the newly remodeled Escanaba Public Library.

Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club meets tonight

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is Monday, June 10 at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Joseph Heirman Building, room 961 at Bay College.

The public is always invited to the meetings, and the club is always looking for new members. If you have any coins or stamps needing to be appraised, come to the meeting.

Menominee MARSP to hold meeting June 13

MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Chapter of Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet on Thursday, June 13 at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Rd. 338, in Carbondale, Mich.

Registration is at 11:30 a.m. CDT with the luncheon served at noon. There is a cost for the dinner. The chapter memorial service will be held to honor and remember deceased Menominee County chapter members from the past year. The program will be presented by Heather Dickinson from the Prickly Pear Craft Studio.

Rapid Readers to meet

RAPID RIVER — Rapid Readers’ selection for June is Sister Souljah’s “The Coldest Winter Ever.” The group will meet at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River Thursday, June 13 at 10 a.m.

Eskymo Fan Club to host golf outing

ESCANABA — The Eskymo Fan Club will hold its annual golf outing Thursday, June 27 at the Escanaba Country Club. Start will be at noon.

This year, the event is sponsored by local community banks. There will be a cash raffle with the top prize of $5,000. Raffle tickets are on sale from any committee member, Upper Peninsula State Bank, First Bank, Baybank, Wickert’s Floral, Escanaba Country Club and the main office at Escanaba High School.
