9/11 Memorial Quilt Project showing

ESCANABA — The 9/11 World Trade Center Memorial Quilt Project “Sew We Never Forget” will hold a showing of a collection of 300 quilts honoring the victims of 9/11 in Escanaba this month.

The showing will take place at Bay de Noc Community College, 2001 N. Lincoln Rd. Escanaba. Set up is on May 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The show will run from 2 to 7 p.m. May 28, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 29 and 30.

A free will donation will be collected at the door.

Amvets host live music tonight in Escanaba

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring The Ghost Riders Country Band from 7 to 11 p.m., Friday, May 10. The public is welcome.

Eskymo Fan Club to host golf outing

ESCANABA — The Eskymo Fan Club will hold its annual golf outing Thursday, June 27 at the Escanaba Country Club. Start will be at noon.

This year, the event is sponsored by local community banks. There will be a cash raffle with a top prize of $5,000. Raffle tickets are on sale from any committee member, Upper Peninsula State Bank, First Bank, Baybank, Wickert’s Floral, Escanaba Country Club, and the main office at the Escanaba High School.

Benefit for David Johnson Saturday

ESCANABA –A benefit will be held Saturday, May 11 at the Elks Lodge 501 Ludington St., Escanaba, from 3 to 7 p.m. for David Johnsen, who is battling small cell renal cancer. There will be food, bucket raffles, silent auction, 50/50 drawings and a bake sale.

Legion breakfast Sunday

RAPID RIVER — Rapid River Legion Post 301 will be hosting its Second Sunday all-you-can-eat breakfast May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon.

RSVP Advisory Council meeting Thursday

ESCANABA — The Delta County Advisory Council of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will hold its meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 4 p.m. EST at Community Action Agency, 507 1st Avenue North in Escanaba.

RSVP is sponsored by the Menominee Delta Schoolcraft Community Action Agency & Human Resources Authority, Inc. The meeting is open to the public. If interested, call Lori Giuliani at 906-786-7080, ext. 136 on or before Tuesday, May 14.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

RSVP is funded by The Corporation for National and Community Service, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services/Aging and Adult Services Agency and the United Way of Delta County.

Community service craft and furniture sale

ESCANABA — The 94th District Court Probation and Court Services Department will hold a community service craft and furniture sale Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the southwest corner of Elmer’s County Market parking lot in Escanaba.

There will be an array of items for sale with all proceeds going to the Community Foundation for Delta County. For more information on the items to be sold, visit the 94th District Court Facebook page.

Lions breakfast May 19

POWERS — The Powers-Spalding Lions Club will host their annual pancake breakfast and bake sale May 19. Serving will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. John Neumann Parish Hall.

The Lions will honor the North Central senior class and their advisors with a free breakfast.

Birthday calendars may also be picked up at this time.
