Wells Lions 52 club ­raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of May 6 is Greg Yagudzinski of Escanaba. Yagudzinski won $100. This was week 40 of the raffle.

Dragon and dinosaur event at museum

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum Second Thursday Creativity Series will continue Thursday with “Diggin’ Those Dragons and Dinosaurs,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The evening will feature dragon and dinosaur-themed crafts and music. Gamewell will be there with fun games to play and explore.

The night will also include a free sundae bar featuring Culver’s Frozen Custard and ten toppings. The event is free for all through sponsorship.

Audubon Club meets tonight at Bay College

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Audubon Club will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday, May 8. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. It will be held in Room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College.

This meeting is open to anyone interested in birding. There is no charge. This will be the last meeting of the Audubon Club in the 2018-2019 school year.

Meetings will resume in September.

Rapid Readers change meeting date for May

RAPID RIVER — The third Thursday of May — May 16 — is the new meeting time of Rapid Readers for the discussion of Jason Matthew’s “Red Sparrow.” Readers meet at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River at 10 a.m.

Members should be thinking of novels for the new reading list. Suggestions will be submitted at the June 13 meeting. June’s choice is “The Coldest Winter Ever” by Sister Soulijah.

Gladstone Class of 1979 reunion planned

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Class of 1979 alumni will gather at the Gladstone Golf Course, 6514 Days River 24.5 Road, Gladstone, Michigan. Saturday, July 6 at 5 p.m. for their 40th reunion. Placing of flags on ­veteran graves

MANISTIQUE — The Schoolcraft All Vets announce the placing of flags on veteran graves in the dozen Schoolcraft cemeteries will take place Saturday, May 18. Members of the public are welcome to take part. Those interested are asked to meet at the VFW Post on Maple Street at 9 a.m. for assignments.

In the event of bad weather, the posting will take place on Saturday, May 25 at the same time and place.

The Schoolcraft All Vets is a loose organization of The American Legion Post 83, the Disabled American Legion Chapter 26, and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4420.

Community service craft and furniture sale

ESCANABA — The 94th District Court Probation and Court Services Department will be holding a community service craft and furniture sale Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the southwest corner of Elmer’s County Market parking lot in Escanaba.

There will be an array of items for sale with all proceeds going to the Community Foundation for Delta County. For more information on the items to be sold, visit the 94th District Court Facebook page.
