RSVP Advisory Council meeting set for May 16

ESCANABA — The Delta County Advisory Council of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will hold its meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 4 p.m. (EST) at Community Action Agency, 507 1st Avenue North in Escanaba.

RSVP is sponsored by the Menominee-Delta-Schoolcraft Community Action Agency & Human Resources Authority, Inc. The meeting is open to the public. If interested, call Lori Giuliani at 906-786-7080, ext. 136 on or before Tuesday, May 14.

Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

RSVP is funded by The Corporation for National and Community Service, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services/Aging and Adult Services Agency and the United Way of Delta County.

Audubon Club to gather

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Audubon Club will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday, May 8. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. It will be held in Room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College.

This meeting is open to anyone interested in birding. There is no charge. This will be the last meeting of the Audubon Club in the 2018-2019 school year.

Meetings will resume in September.

AAUW to elect officers

ESCANABA — The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its annual Election of Officers Dinner Meeting on May 9 at the Stonehouse.

Cocktails will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will be ordered off the menu at 6 p.m.

The program will feature Dr. Julie Bender Lewter. She will speak about adult mental health. Member of the year will be announced, and a discussion of upcoming summer events will take place.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate’s degree or higher.

Mother’s Day breakfast

RAPID RIVER — Rapid River Legion Post 301 will be hosting its second Sunday all-you-can-eat breakfast May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Placing flags on ­veteran graves in Schoolcraft

MANISTIQUE — The Schoolcraft All Vets announce the placing of Flags on Veteran graves in the dozen Schoolcraft cemeteries will take place Saturday, May 18. Members of the public are welcome to take part. Those interested are asked to meet at the VFW Post on Maple Street at 9 a.m. for assignments.

In the event of bad weather, the posting will take place on Saturday, May 25 at the same time and place.

The Schoolcraft All Vets is a loose organization of The American Legion Post 83, the Disabled American Legion Chapter 26, and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4420.

Senior line dancing group holds classes

GLADSTONE — The Solid Gold Seniors performed at Gladstone Senior Center’s monthly birthday lunch in April. The line dance group meets Fridays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. through the end of May. A basic beginner class will start June 7 and runs each Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m.

Toastmasters meeting Wednesday in Escanaba

ESCANABA — Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St. in Escanaba.
