Fire department ­breakfast set for Sunday

FORD RIVER — Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will be having a pancake breakfast and bake sale Sunday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford River Township Hall. Guests can follow the signs from M-35 or U.S. 2 and 41.

The fire department would also like to remind the public to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.

Right to Life meeting planned for May 7

ESCANABA — Right to Life of Delta County will meet Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in Room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College. Plans will be made for upcoming projects and events, including the “Choose Life” outreach booth at the U.P. State Fair (Monday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 14), an August billboard, and the prayerful Life Chain to be held in Escanaba in October.

GFWC to hold Table Celebration May 4

ESCANABA — The GFWC Escanaba Woman’s Club will hold its Table Celebration to benefit Operation Smile Saturday May 4 at the Bonifas Arts Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry to the event. includes appetizers and a chance to vote for your favorite decorated table top.

American Legion ­breakfast Sunday

HERMANSVILLE — Hermansville American Legion Post 340 will be having a pancake/French toast breakfast Sunday, April 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. The meal is all you can eat, and proceeds benefit Legion projects.

Lions Club breakfast

POWERS — The Powers-Spalding Lions Club will host their annual pancake breakfast and bake sale May 19. Serving will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. John Neumann Parish Hall.

The Lions will honor the North Central senior class and their advisors with a free breakfast.

Birthday calendars may also be picked up at this time.

Angels & Outlaws at Amvets Friday night

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country and variety band Angels & Outlaws Friday, April 26, from 7 to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

50th Anniversary Spring Salad Luncheon May 10

ESCANABA — The 50th Anniversary Spring Salad Luncheon will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 819 1st Ave. South, Escanaba, Friday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Take out is available. The church is barrier free. A donation will be taken at the door.

Arbor Day tree planting

ESCANABA — On Friday, April 26, all Scouts — Cubs, Webelos, Scouts and Girl Scouts — are asked to join together in Ludington Park to plant trees on National Arbor Day with City of Escanaba employees at 1 p.m. For more information, contact Mark Rose, Red Buck Sub-District Commissioner of Scouts at 906-630-1864 or mrose1@chartermi.net. Service time is available.

Fundraiser for fireworks planned for Saturday

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Firework Committee will be holding a spaghetti and chicken fundraiser on April 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. CST at the Hermansville Community Club. There will be raffles, door prizes, and inflatable jumps for the kids. Take-out will also be available.

One hundred percent of proceeds go to pay for the fireworks on 4th of July.
