Mill retirees to meet

ESCANABA — The Mill Retirees group will meet on Wednesday, May 1 at the Union Hall on Sheridan Road at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

All mill retirees are invited to attend. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month.

Democratic Party to hold meeting May 1

ESCANABA — The Delta County Democratic Party will hold its monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at USW Union Hall, 1201 Sheridan Rd., Escanaba. Social is at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of April 22 is Don Dittrich of Cornell. Dittrich won $100. This was week 38 of the raffle.

Amvets to elect officers

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is having its monthly meeting this Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. for all officers and members. On the agenda is the nomination of officers.

Arbor Day tree planting

ESCANABA — On Friday, April 26, all Scouts — Cubs, Webelos, Scouts and Girl Scouts — are asked to join togther in Ludington Park to plant trees on National Arbor Day with City of Escanaba employees at 9 a.m.

Bay de Noc Lions Club meeting tonight

WELLS — The Bay de Noc Lions Club will be holding a meeting and discussing various community projects tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wells Township Hall.

A Journey Through Grief

ESCANABA — “A Journey Through Grief” is a bereavement support group presented on behalf of UP Health System Hospice. This is a non-denominational support group that is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. It provides educational materials and guide discussions on a variety of topics to assist those in the grieving process.

“A Journey Through Grief” is offered the last Thursday of every month. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The group will be facilitated by Lewis Hague, UP Health System Hospice bereavement coordinator and coordinated by Gayle DeShambo, account executive for UP Health System Hospice.

This support group is open to anyone in our community that is grieving the loss of a loved one.

Drug Take-Back Day at the Escanaba Elks

ESCANABA — Escanaba Elks 354 will be taking part in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Lodge, located at 510 Ludington St., will be open to everyone for a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medication.

Angels & Outlaws to perform Friday night

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country and variety band Angels & Outlaws Friday, April 26, from 7 to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

50th Anniversary Spring Salad Luncheon set

ESCANABA — The 50th Anniversary Spring Salad Luncheon will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 819 1st Ave. South, Escanaba Friday May 10 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Take out is available. The church is barrier free. A donation will be taken at the door.
