Indian Education Spring Feast is April 16

ESCANABA — Escanaba Schools Title VI Indian Ed Spring Feast honoring students will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at the Upper Elementary School cafeteria. Everyone is welcome to this public ceremony and hearing. Call 786-7462 ext. 2216 for more information.

AAUW to meet April 25

ESCANABA — American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its annual Membership Matters Meeting on April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Leigh’s Winery. The program will include a video explaining the group’s mission. Various members will explain the fundraising activities and projects to support women and girls in our community. Members are encouraged to bring guests who might be interested in finding out more information about AAUW. Refreshments and wine tasting will be available. RSVP to Judy at 789-1905 by April 22.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associates degree or higher. Started in 1881, the organization is globally recognized for its advancement of equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. For more information on AAUW, call 474-6545.

Choir will present ­annual Easter cantata

ROCK –The Rock-Perkins Area Cantata Choir will present its annual Easter cantata this year, performing “The Body of Christ” by Pepper Choplin.

The choir will perform twice ­– 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Rock and 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins. Refreshments and fellowship will follow after each performance.

A free will offering will be accepted to help with the cost of music.

A Journey Through Grief to meet April 25

ESCANABA — “A Journey Through Grief” is a bereavement support group presented on behalf of UP Health System Hospice. This is a non-denominational support group that is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. It provides educational materials and guide discussions on a variety of topics to assist those in the grieving process.

“A Journey Through Grief” is offered the last Thursday of every month. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The group will be facilitated by Lewis Hague, UP Health System Hospice bereavement coordinator, and coordinated by Gayle DeShambo, account executive for UP Health System Hospice.

This support group is open to anyone in our community that is grieving the loss of a loved one.

Rummage Sale to ­b­enefit Toys for Tots

ESCANABA — Toys for Tots will be having a rummage sale May 4 from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. at Willow Creek #2 Lounge, located at 2414 8th Ave. South Escanaba.

Annual Scenic Shore 5K Run/1 Mile Walk

GLADSTONE — The Eighth Annual Scenic Shore 5K Run/1 Mile Walk will be held Saturday, June 15. Registration will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and the race will begin at 10 a.m. at 303 N. 8th St., Gladstone.

Preregister and pay by June 5 to receive a discount.

Fire department ­breakfast planned

FORD RIVER — The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will be having a pancake breakfast and bake sale on Sunday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford River Township Hall. There is a charge to attend.
