Ukrainian egg dying workshop at library

STEPHENSON — Rosie May, a northern Michigan artist, will be offering a hands-on traditional egg decorating workshop at the Menominee County Library on April 8. This workshop is free but pre-registration is requested to ensure adequate supplies. There are two sessions, starting at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Pysanky is a wax resist dye process traditionally used in the Ukraine region of Eastern Europe for centuries. Decorated eggs were shared with family and friends to promote good wishes at Easter and to welcome spring.

All supplies and equipment will be provided. Pysanky is not recommended for young children due to use of candles and hot wax. Anyone under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information or to register for this workshop contact the Menominee County Library at 906-753-6923 or visit www.uproc.lib.mi.us/menominee. The library is located at S. 319 Railroad St. Stephenson, Mich.
