MARSP to meet

MANISTIQUE — MARSP members from Schoolcraft and Eastern Delta counties will hold their luncheon meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at The Grind, located at 111 River St. in Manistique, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Patricia Newby from the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter will be the guest speaker.

There is a cost for the luncheon, payable at the door. Call 283-3209 by Sunday, Feb. 10 if interested in attending. New members are welcome.

VA benefit presentation

ESCANABA — VFW service Officer Patrick Holcomb will be giving a VA benefit presentation at North Woods Place Senior Living in Escanaba on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. RSVP to Heidi by calling 906-789-2268.

Daughters of the American Revolution

MARQUETTE — The Onagomingkway Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), which serves the western Upper Peninsula, will hold its monthly meeting at the Big Boy restaurant in Marquette on Saturday, Feb. 9 from noon until 3 p.m. For any questions, please call Melissa Wilson at 906-226-7836.

American Legion ­meeting set for Feb. 20

MANISTIQUE — The American Legion Post 83 in Manistique will meet at the VFW Hall on Maple Street at 7 p.m. Feb. 20.

Dance in Rock Feb. 10

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 1 to 5 p.m. Come enjoy the music of Country Express. There is a cost at the door and a free will donation lunch will be available. For more info, call Alice at 356-6588.

All proceeds benefit the Senior Corporation.

Rapid River Readers change meeting date

RAPID RIVER — Rapid Readers will meet Thursday, Feb. 21 — not Feb. 14 as originally scheduled — at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River.

Allen Esken’s “The Life We Bury” is the novel to be discussed at the 10 a.m. meeting. New members are welcome. Questions can be directed to Peg Netchey at 428-9668.

Steak dinner Feb. 14

GLADSTONE — The American Legion 802 Delta Ave, Gladstone will be having a steak dinner featuring an 8 ounce filet on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

AAUW movie night

ESCANABA — On Feb. 20, AAUW (American Association of University Women) will host a showing of “The Little Pink House.” The movie will begin at the Bonifas at 6:30 p.m.

“The Little Pink House” tells the true story of a woman who fights politicians and the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer to keep her house from being taken to make way for Pfizer’s new headquarters.

Members may bring snacks and drinks to share. This program is open to AAUW members and their invited guests.

AAUW is open to men and women holding an associate degree or higher. Founded in 1881, the organization is globally recognized for its advancement of equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. For more information on AAUW, contact 474-6545.

Taco Tuesday at American Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Avenue in Gladstone, will be having Taco Tuesday from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Veterans Council to hold meeting

ESCANABA — Delta County Veterans Council will hold its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Purple Heart Building, 1202 Sheridan Road.
