Wells Lions Club raffle winner announced

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of Dec. 31 is Cheryl Godlewski of Cornell. Godlewski won $100. This was week 22 of the raffle.

Lecture series at East Ludington Gallery

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery will continue its free lecture series into the new year. The lectures will be held the third Thursday of every month, except December, from 7 to 8 p.m. The gallery is located at 1007 Ludington Street and the public is welcome.

The schedule of topics is as follows:

Jan. 17 — Rose Peltier — Fabric dyeing — (Ice and snow, Shibori, marble with shaving cream, tie-dye and more; materials, resources and samples including finished projects.)

Feb. 21 — Glenna Arkens — Acrylic painting triple layer method.

Mar. 21 — Ted Brainard — Wood Furniture (types, characteristic, design, tools, etc.)

Apr. 18 — Diane Kribs-Mays — Creative clothing

May — Christine Groleau — Russian Orthodox iconography

June 20 — Molly Larsen — Creative writing and self-publishing

July 18 — Jim Finlan — The creation of murals

Aug. 15 — Lynn Soderberg — Community theatre (Lynn will touch on directing, acting, costumes, set building, lighting, sound, and how community members can become involved)

Sept. 19 — Sandy Wilson — Jewelry making and design

Oct. 17 — Kate Oman — Kate’s 100 Day Project (Kate will discuss the various types of media and techniques used to create her project and tips on how to photograph your work.)

Nov. 21 — Jan Dillon — Glass mosaics

Dec. 19 — No lecture

Advanced Lions Club forming in Delta County

WELLS — The public is welcome to attend a free, informational, open discussion meeting on developing a new advanced Lions Club based on friends and family at the Wells Township Hall on Thursday, Jan. 10. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be served.

Escanaba Senior Center

ESCANABA — Line dancing class is held every Wednesday for beginners at 12:45 to 2:30 p.m. at Escanaba Senior Center. Sit N Fit classes are held Monday and Friday at the Senior Center from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

DAV meeting is Jan. 7

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Jan. 7 at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. All disabled veterans are welcome.

Rapid River Readers set first meeting of the year

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Readers will discuss their first novel of 2019, “The Wife Between Us” by Hendricks and Pekkanen, at Jack’s Resturant at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 10. New members are welcome. For any questions, contact Peg Netchey at 906-428-9668.

Toastmasters to meet

ESCANABA — Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St. in Escanaba.

Taco Tuesday at American Legion

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Avenue in Gladstone, will be having Taco Tuesday from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
