Christmas program at Escanaba Free Lutheran
ESCANABA — Escanaba Free Lutheran Church, located at 502 S. 12th St., Escanaba, will begin family worship service at 10:30 a.m. This service will include the church’s Christmas program. A luncheon will be served after the program.
Eagles breakfast Sunday

ESCANABA — The Lecture Series scheduled for Dec. 20 at the East Ludington Gallery has been cancelled.
Historical Society annual bake sale today
ESCANABA — The Delta County Historical Society will conduct its annual Christmas bake sale on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the museum at Sand Point. The society asks members and friends to participate, both as bakers and as buyers. Cookies, breads, candies and other treats may be dropped off at the multi-purpose room at the DCHS Beaumier Museum building, beginning at 9 a.m. the day of the sale. Sales will begin at 10 a.m.
Customers and donors are invited to tour the museum without charge and to enjoy the winter view of Little Bay de Noc from the multipurpose room.
Chocolates, historic maps, local history books, maple syrup, and other items will be for sale at the museum desk.
Proceeds support the non-profit society’s efforts to preserve and display Delta County history.
Free Christmas dinner at Memorial UMC
GLADSTONE — A free Christmas Day dinner will be served at Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone.
The menu will include a full homemade dinner of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, rolls, and pie.
Serving will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. The front entrance will open for diners at 11:30 a.m. and seating will begin at 11:50 a.m. Shut-ins in Gladstone, Rapid River, and Escanaba can request delivered meals by calling 428-4199 no later than Thursday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m.
Reservations to dine at the church are not needed and take-out is available. The church is fully handicapped accessible.
Persons interested in volunteering to help with the dinner can call 428-4199.
The churches providing this meal are All Saints Catholic Church, First Lutheran, Memorial United Methodist Church, Trinity Episcopal, and United Evangelical Covenant. Various individuals and service organizations have also assisted in helping with funding, food items, and volunteers.
First United Methodist Christmas Cookie Walk
ESCANABA — The ladies of First United Methodist Church in Escanaba are warming up the ovens once again for their Annual Christmas Cookie Walk on Dec. 15, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
In addition to new and old cookie recipes, specialty breads, candy, and fudge will again be featured. An assortment of cookies and breads make great gifts for friends, relatives, nursing homes, local businesses and others.
A craft sale will also take place with rugs, mittens, stuffed toys, and other homemade items. The public is invited to browse the baked goods and crafts and enjoy a free cup of coffee and samples of delicious cookies.
