Two trainings for homeless shelter volunteers

ESCANABA — New volunteer training sessions for Hope at the Inn homeless shelter will be held

Monday, Oct. 29 at Grace Church, north M35 Gladstone, Rm 112, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 4, at All Saints Church, 715 Wisconsin, Gladstone at 11:45 a.m.

Those who trained previously need not attend, but are encouraged to come for a refresher training. Attendees will learn about the shelter concept and specific duties for each shift. The trainings last about 75 minutes. No pre-registration is needed.

HATI will open for its 6th season on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Volunteers are needed to provide evening meals and staff the shelter shifts each day from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., and 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. The location rotates weekly among 13 churches from November to April.
