DAV to hold meeting

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba. All disabled veterans are welcome.

Daily activities at the planned at senior center

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Senior Center has various activities going on every week. Everyday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., walking is available. There is also a treadmill available.

Morning coffee is available everyday.

Every Tuesday and Friday, 15 games of bingo are played, starting at 12:45 p.m.

On Wednesday afternoons, enjoy a game of cards.

Craft day is the third Monday of the month.

Foot Clinic is on the third Tuesday of the month. The nurse arrives at 9 a.m. Bring a towel. Call the center to register for the foot clinic.

Sit-n-fit exercise class

ESCANABA — Fitness chair exercises to improve strength, stretching, balance, flexibility and muscle will be held every Monday and Friday at 11 a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.

Lunches at senior center

GLADSTONE — Come to the Gladstone Senior Center for entertainment and lunch every weekday at 11:30 a.m. If you are age 60 or older, you can get a balanced meal for a donation. There is a different meal each day, and a monthly schedule of the meals is available at the Senior Center.

Taco Tuesday weekly at American Legion hall

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Avenue in Gladstone, will be having Taco Tuesday from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Bereanaires youth group meets weekly

SOO HILL — Bereanaires youth group for children in first through sixth grade and teens (separately) is being held from October through April from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights, at Berean Baptist Church in Soo Hill.

Activities include games, Bible lessons, an objective activity, memory verses, singing, treats and two summary meal celebrations. Call 906-786-9170 for a ride or information.

Library Friends host card and game night

GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library will host its annual fall Card Party and Game Night on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the library.

Groups should reserve a table by calling Judy Wyckoff at 428-5263. Other tables will be reserved for individuals who wish to come and join a group for the evening. There will also be a Mahjong table this year.

There will be a silent auction and a pie social. A “reader’s basket” will be given away as a door prize.

Bring your own games or round up a group to play bridge. Tickets are can be purchased from Wyckoff, other Friends or at the library. Proceeds go to supplement children’s programs and activities such as the reading programs and story hours.

Bay Sages to meet Thursday at MTEC

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay Sages will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. at the MTEC building on North 30th Street.

The featured speaker will be Dan Kari, MDOT regional transportation manager from the Crystal Falls office. He will be providing a history of the Escanaba River bridge project and construction update.

Members and guests are welcome to attend meetings of the Bay Sages.
