Slingers to perform at Amvets tonight in Esky

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will feature country band Slingers Friday, Oct. 26 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

Bay Sages to hear about bridge project

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay Sages will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. at the MTEC Building on North 30th Street.

The featured speaker will be Dan Kari, MDOT regional transportation manager from the Crystal Falls office. He will be providing a history of the Escanaba River bridge project and a construction update.

Members and guests are welcome to attend meetings of the Bay Sages, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting lifelong learning opportunities for older adults. Refreshments will be served.

Library Friends host card and game night

GLADSTONE — The Friends of the Gladstone Library will host their annual fall Card Party and Game Night on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the library.

Groups should reserve a table by calling Judy Wyckoff at 428-5263. Other tables will be reserved for individuals who wish to come and join a group for the evening. There will also be a Mahjong table this year.

There will be a silent auction and a pie social. A “Reader’s Basket” will be given away as a door prize.

Bring your own games or round up a group to play bridge. Tickets are can be purchased from Wyckoff, other Friends or at the library. Proceeds go to supplement children’s programs and activities such as the reading programs and story hours.

MARSP to meet Nov. 6

GLADSTONE — The November meeting of MARSP will be held at noon on Nov. 6, at the Terrace Bay Hotel. Lunch will be available for a fee.

Doug Leisenring from DSISD will be the guest speaker addressing virtual schools.

Members are asked to bring used eyeglasses.

Garden Christian Fellowship bazaar

GARDEN — The Garden Christian Fellowship Harvest Bazaar, Silent Basket Auction and Luncheon will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be held at 6411 State St. in Garden.

Gladstone Braves Fan Club Rocktober Fest

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Braves Fan Club is sponsoring Rocktober Fest on Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will be held at the Terrace Bluff Golf Club. Doors open at 7 p.m. and The Jam Band will be playing from 8 p.m. until midnight.

There will be a cash bar available. Raffles include four Lions vs. Packers tickets and a 50/50 drawing. There will also be a prize drawing for those that pre-purchase their tickets.

November Elks Auxiliary meeting set for Nov. 1

ESCANABA — The November Lady Elks Auxiliary meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1. Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. A dinner will begin at 7 p.m., with the meeting to follow.

The automatic reservation list will be in effect starting this month.
