Cedar Creek Country Band performs Friday

ESCANABA — The Cedar Creek Country Band is scheduled to perform live Friday, Sept. 7 at the Amvets Hall in Escanaba from 7 to 11 p.m. A donation will be accepted at the door. All are welcome.

Elks Friday night ­dinners return for fall

ESCANABA –The Escanaba Elks 354 will be serving their Friday night dinners starting Sept. 7 from 5-9 pm.

The card raffle will also resume on Friday. Members and guests are welcome.

71st Fall Festival at St. Rita Parish in Trenary

TRENARY — St. Rita Parish in Trenary will hold its annual Fall Festival on the parish grounds on Sunday, Sept. 9. A harvest dinner featuring turkey with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the parish hall. There is a fee for the dinner but children under five eat free. Take-out dinners will be available.

Special games for young and old alike will be featured on the grounds, including bingo. There will be a silver dollar game, craft and baked goods booths, a refreshment stand and music by Mary Lynn and Doug. The raffle drawing will be held at 4 p.m.

Everyone is welcome. Please note that Sunday Mass will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m., on Sept. 9.

Class of 1963 lunch

ESCANABA — The gals of the Escanaba High School Class of 1963 will be holding a monthly noon ladies’ lunch the second Wednesday of every month at the Family Inn Restaurant. SERA lunch Sept. 10

ESCANABA — U.P. Chapter 16 of the State Employee Retirees Association (SERA) September luncheon will be on Monday, Sept. 10 at noon at the Highland Golf Club, located west of Escanaba.

Fish or chicken dinner at Memorial UMC

GLADSTONE — A dinner featuring fried fish or chicken will take place Friday, Sept. 14 at Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1920 Lake Shore Ave. in Gladstone.

Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kids age 7 and under eat free.

A community concert will follow at 8 p.m. with a free-will offering.

Escanaba Lions Club to hold meeting Monday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Lions Club will resume regular meetings for the upcoming year. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept.10 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Escanaba Elks Lodge.

The Lions Club organization is the largest service club in the world. Local Lions clubs are dedicated to community service based on the motto “We Serve.” Anyone interested in finding out more about the Lions Club in Escanaba or attending a meeting as a guest is asked to contact Jay Owens, President Escanaba Lions Club, at 280-5332.

Audubon Club to meet

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Audubon Club will resume its monthly meetings with its first meeting of the 2018-19 year on Wednesday evening, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held in Room 961 of the Heirman Building at Bay College. This meeting is open to anyone interested in birding. There is no charge.
