American Legion ­meeting set for Sept. 4

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Ave. in Gladstone, will hold its regular meeting Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. The executive board will meet at 6:15 p.m.

Country Slingers to play Friday in Escanaba

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country and variety band Country Slingers from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. The public is welcome.

Kennel club sets September meeting

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Kennel Club will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Kennel Club Building, located at 6687 N.75 Dr. in Escanaba (just north of the Wells Sports Complex, next to the baseball field). The public is welcome to attend.

Veterans service officer sets office hours

HERMANSVILLE — Mike Dellisse, Menominee County Veterans Service Officer, will be holding office hours on Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Floriano-Stecker-Kelly American Legion Hall in Hermansville.

Veterans or widows that need assistance with the Veterans Administration, claims with the administration, Agent Orange, headstones, grave markers, or information on the Oscar Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain should see Dellisse on visit to Hermansville.

If you have any questions on the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for Menominee County, Dellisse can help.

You need not belong to any service organization to see Dellisse, his services are free.

Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club sets meeting

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is Monday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Please note the time change.

The meeting will be held in room 961 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College. The public — including those who need coins or stamps appraised — is always welcome at meetings.

Legion plans breakfast

RAPID RIVER — Rapid River Legion Post 301 will hold its second Sunday “All You Can Eat” breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at the post’s hall. The breakfast is dedicated to the U.P. Honor Flight.

ESCANABA — U.P. Chapter 16 State Employee Retirees Association (SERA) September Luncheon will be on Monday, Sept. 10 at noon at the Highland Golf Club, located west of Escanaba.
