Amvets features band Country Slingers Friday

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country and variety band Country Slingers from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. The public is welcome.

Wells Lions 52 club ­raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of Aug. 27 is Ann Chenier of Gladstone. Chenier won $100. This was week four of the raffle.

Post 340 to hold ­meeting on Sept. 13

HERMANSVILLE — The Floriano-Stecker-Kelly Post 340 of Hermansville will hold its monthly metting on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Club Rooms in Hermansville.

Veterans service officer sets office hours

HERMANSVILLE — Mike Dellisse, Menominee County Veterans’ Service Officer, will be holding office hours on Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Floriano-Stecker-Kelly American Legion Hall in Hermansville.

Veterans or widows that need assistance with the Veterans Administration, claims with the Administration, Agent Orange, headstones, grave-markers, or information on the Oscar Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iron Mountain should see Dellisse when they visit Hermansville.

If you have any questions on the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund for Menominee County, Dellisse can help.

You need not belong to any service organization to see Dellisse, his services are free.

American Legion sets meeting for Sept. 4

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71, located at 802 Delta Ave. in Gladstone, will hold its regular meeting Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. The executive board will meet at 6:15 p.m.

Bay de Noc Kennel Club sets September meeting

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Kennel Club will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Kennel Club Building, located at 6687 N.75 Dr. in Escanaba (just north of the Wells Sports Complex, next to the baseball field). The public is welcome to attend.

Legion breakfast in Rapid River Sept. 9

RAPID RIVER — Rapid River Legion Post 301 will hold its second Sunday “All You Can Eat” breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at the post’s hall. The breakfast is dedicated to the U.P. Honor Flight.

MARSP sets meeting

HARRIS — The Delta County chapter of MARSP will hold its September meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at noon (eastern time) at the Island Resort and Casino.

Shannon Taylor, executive director of Hope at the Inn, will present the program.

There is a charge for the luncheon.
