Gladstone senior center classes cancelled

GLADSTONE — During the summer months, the Tai-Chi, Sit and be Fit, and Grassroots Cribbage will not take place. They will all resume in September.

The Gladstone Senior Center is sorry for any inconvenience.

MARSP to meet Aug. 7

GLADSTONE — The Delta County Chapter of MARSP will hold its August meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Gladstone, starting at noon. Lunch will be provided at a cost.

The program will consist of a legislative update and the annual memorial service for deceased members.

Registrations, for those not on a calling list, can be made by calling (906) 786-7748 or (906) 399-0280 no later than 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2.

Salvation Army services

ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building.

The soup kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Golden K Kiwanis meets Wednesday in Escanaba

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Golden K Kiwanis holds weekly meetings every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Escanaba Civic Center, located at 225 N. 21st St. in Escanaba.

Angels & Outlaws play at Amvets tonight

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, will feature country band Angels and Outlaws from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 27. The public is welcome.

Mix and Mingle events planned through 2019

ESCANABA — A schedule of Mix and Mingle community events for 2018-2019 has been released. Events include:

Monday, Oct. 29 — A Halloween party (tentatively) at the Delta Plaza Mall will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The event will include a costume contest, dinner and dancing.

Thursday, Feb. 14 — Bowling at the Bowl-A-Rama, dinner and dancing from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Monday, April 22 — A Spring Dance at Escanaba Civic Center will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Come have dinner, dance and socialize and make new friends. (Casual attire.)

Monday, June 3 — A formal dance will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Island Resort and Casino.

There is a fee for each of the events listed. Transportation will be provided for individuals living in Gladstone and Escanaba.

Christian Closet opens Aug. 1 in Escanaba

ESCANABA — Families and individuals in need will be welcome to visit the Christian Closet and select from an assortment of gently used clothing and shoes of all sizes, non-perishable food items, household supplies, and more. Everything will be available free of charge.

The Christian Closet is located in the Escanaba Church of Christ building, located in Soo Hill at 5079 18th Road, Escanaba.

The Christian Closet will be open on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The next day the closet will be open is Aug. 1.
