Lecture series at East Ludington Gallery

ESCANABA — The East Ludington Gallery, 1007 Ludington St., Escanaba, will be having a lecture series the third Thursday of every Month.

This month will be Tracy Anderson – Scratchboard. The art of scratchboard involves using various tools on white clayboard that has been painted black to create art with exceptional detail and realism.

The lecture will take place on July 19 from 7 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge.

Live music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country band Country Sling from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 20. The public is welcome.

Isabella farmers’ market starts Friday, July 20

ISABELLA — The Isabella Community Hall, located at the intersection of US 2 and County Road 495, will host its seasonal farmers’ market on Fridays beginning July 20. The markets will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The markets feaure baked goods and vegetables, available along with a free cup of coffee, cookie, and conversations.

Escanaba Class of 1949 to meet Aug. 3

ESCANABA — Escanaba’s graduating class of 1949 is having a luncheon get-together at the Stonehouse of Friday, Aug. 3 at noon.

Spouses or other companions are welcome.

Immanuel to hold VBS

ESCANABA — Immanuel Lutheran Church will be holding a vacation Bible school at the church Aug. 6 through Aug. 9

At the vacation Bible school, called “Shipwrecked VBS,” kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and eat yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, and collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love.

Kids will also learn to look for evidence of God all around them through “God Sightings.” Each day concludes with the “Sail Away Sendoff” that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time for supper at 5:30 p.m.

Shipwrecked is for kids from 3 to 12 and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day. Registration forms are on the church website: www.immanuelescanaba.org.

Monthly breakfast ­buffet at Legion post

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 welcomes the public to an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet the third Sunday of each month.

Benefit choral concert

ESCANABA — There will be a benefit choral concert and community hymn sing for the Keweenaw flood relief at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Parish, 701 First Avenue South in Escanaba on Friday, July 20.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. A freewill offering will be collected, and all proceeds will be donated to the disaster relief fund of the Keweenaw Community Foundation.

DAV to hold meeting

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

All disabled veterans are welcome.

No Taco Tuesdays

GLADSTONE — The American Legion in Gladstone will not be having Taco Tuesdays for the months of July and August.
