Courtesy photo Two seventh graders from North Central took home honors recently for their entries in the the 2017-18 Americanism Essay Program competition. This program is sponsored by the Department of Michigan, Military Order of the Purple Heart Americanism Program, and local chapter 1879. The first-place winner was Kallie Knick, right, and second was Katrina Borucki, left. Both students were awarded a monetary amount from Chapter 1879 and their essays will advance to the state level where there are further opportunities for monetary awards. The final winners will be picked at the state convention in May.
