Amvets host Classic Country Band Friday

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring Classic Country Band from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, April 6. Guests, both veterans and the public, are welcome with a donation.

Winner of Lions 52 Week Raffle named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of April 2 is Bill Overholt of Escanaba. Overholt won $100. This was week 35 of the raffle.

Ladies Friendship Dinner planned for April 13

BARK RIVER — On Friday, April 13, there is a Ladies Friendship Dinner planned at Bark River Bible Church. Social hour is planned for 6 p.m. with a photo area and photographer. Dinner is planned for 7 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. program.

RSVP by calling 241-3644 or signing up at the church. There is no cost for the dinner.

A youth group event is also planned for Saturday, April 21.

Grief group meets Tuesday at Central UMC

ESCANABA — The OSF Home Care Community Grief Group can provide a warm, caring and confidential environment that allows you the opportunity to be supported by others who understand. You are not alone in this process.

OSF Home Care – 2018 Community Grief Group meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. EST at Central United Methodist Church, 322 S. Lincoln Road, Escanaba. The next meeting will take place on April 10.

Sit-n-fit exercise class

ESCANABA — Fitness chair exercises to improve strength, stretching, balance, flexibility and muscle will be held every Monday and Friday at 11 a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.

Daily activities planned at the senior center

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Senior Center has various activities going on every week. Everyday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., walking is available. They also have a treadmill available.

Morning coffee is available everyday.

Every Tuesday and Friday, 15 games of bingo are played, starting at 12:45 p.m.

On Wednesday afternoons, enjoy a game of cards.

Craft day is the third Monday of the month.

Foot Clinic is on the third Tuesday of the month. The nurse arrives at 9 a.m. Bring a towel. Call the center to register for the foot clinic.

Legion Legislative Dinner set for April 28

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts will hold its Annual U.P. Association Legislative Dinner on Saturday, April 28, in Iron Mountain at Post 50, 916 River Avenue. Call Post 50 at (906) 774-5797 or (906) 282-1474 to reserve tickets before April 23.

The event aims to impress upon U.P. legislators that the American Legion expects them to favor veteran issues. A full slate of elected officials is expected to be in attendance. Every post is asked to send at least one or two members and for members to wear their Legion caps to the function.

The dinner is open to the Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary as well.

Department NEC and Past Department Commander, Raymond Moore, will be the emcee. Cocktails will be served at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Central time.

Taco Tuesday hosted by Legion Post 71 returns

GLADSTONE — American Legion Post 71 welcomes the public to Taco Tuesday, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each week at the Gladstone Legion Hall, 802 Delta Ave. Both hard and soft tacos are available, along with nachos and nachos supreme.
