St. Thomas Breakfast

ESCANABA — St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1820 9th Ave North, Escanaba, will serve breakfast on Sunday, April 8, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parish hall. The menu includes eggs, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, toast, coffee and juice. Children five and under are free. All are welcome.

Salem Lutheran Church to install new pastor

BARK RIVER — On Saturday, April 14 Salem Lutheran Church (NALC) will be installing Rev. Hans Tolpingrud as the new pastor of the church. The event will take place at 4 p.m. with a potluck dinner to follow the service.

Rapid River Legion breakfast returns

RAPID RIVER — Spring is back and so is the Rapid River Legion breakfast.

The 2nd Sunday ‘All You Can Eat’ breakfast at the Rapid River Legion Post 301 hall will take place Sunday April 8, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Dance in Trenary

TRENARY — A dance will be held at the Trenary Community Building in Trenary on Sunday April 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be by Country Wheels. Everyone is welcome. There is a admission charge.

Bethany Lutheran to host Choral Society

ESCANABA — Bethany Lutheran will host the Bay de Noc Choral Society’s spring concert on Sunday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Rapid River Readers meet April 12 at Jack’s

RAPID RIVER — The April novel for the Rapid River Readers is “Testing the Current “ by William McPherson. Discussion takes place at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River on Thursday, April 12 at 10 a.m.

If anyone is interested in joining the group, please call 428-9668. May’s choice of reading is “My Grandma Says That She’s Sorry” by Fredrik Backman (May 10).

Members should be gathering titles for additions to the reading list. Please get them to Helen by May get together. A synopses of suggestions will be in order to make selections at the June 14 meeting.

Cribbage in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The Bay de Noc Peggers Club 218 will play each Monday at 7 p.m. at the Lake Bluff Retirement Village Community Center. Nine games of cribbage are played one-on-one with, one fourth of the players earning money. The club has existed for over 20 years and members earn points that add up to awards from the American Cribbage Congress (ACC). Points are earned with two for a win, zero for a loss and three for a skunk.

Play begins at 7 p.m. each Monday. New players are welcomed. Call Joe or Donna Aird at 428-3844 for more information.

Association of American Legions to meet

POWERS — The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legions’ 11th District Spring meeting will take place Saturday, April 28 in Powers at Post 244.

There will be a lunch at noon with the meeting with nominations and elections of district officers to begin at 1 p.m.

Sit-n-fit exercise class

ESCANABA — Fitness chair exercises to improve strength, stretching, balance, flexibility and muscle will be held every Monday and Friday at 11a.m. at the Escanaba Senior Center. Sign in at the office. The event is free.
