GLADSTONE — Gladstone Key Club members have been busy filling bags of food for students in need at the four schools in the Gladstone Area School District and Rapid River Schools though the Backpack Food Distribution Program.

Each Wednesday, 150 bags of food are filled with weekend food (seven meals plus snacks). The bags are then loaded into tubs and delivered to five schools by the Gladstone-Rapid River Kiwanis Club.

“This is the second year we have bought the food, brought it to the Gladstone High School, set up the assembly line, filled the bags and tubs and delivered them to the five schools,” stated Larry Kirschner, backpack food distribution program coordinator.

The children served, their parents and the Gladstone-Rapid River Kiwanis Club are thankful for the Community Foundation of Delta County for providing the schools with the bulk of the funding for providing the backpack food distribution program.
