“Dance it UP” set for Sunday

GLADSTONE — Dancers from ‘Dance it UP’ (Gladstone and Manistique) competed at the Thunderstruck Dance Competition in Green Bay, Wis. this spring. The competition was attended by 21 different studios from Wisconsin and from Michigan with 593 dances entered. It was a full weekend of of competitive dance for all ability levels. The dancers competed as future star entries in categories of jazz, character, tap, contemporary and lyrical. Even though this was a first time experience for several of these dancers, the team brought home gold and high gold adjudication scores.

Additional awards included: top ten teen soloist Olivia Kingren placed eighth; top ten junior soloist Madison Niswonger placed eighth; top ten junior soloist Malia Stube placed fourth; top ten petite duet/trio ‘Calling all the Monsters’ placed 10th, dancers were Teegan VanTassell, Ella Johnson, and Avaya Tiernan; top ten petite duet/trio ‘Faith’ placed ninth, dancers were Calista Watchorn, and Kyra Carlson; and top ten teen small group ‘Burring Up’ placed third, dancers were Charley Schoenow, Olivia Kingren, Lilly Stoll, and Avery Hubble.

All of the “Dance It Up” dancers, including these award winning competitive dancers, will perform this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gladstone High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for $5 and ages three and under are free.
