Mary (Dubord) and Joe Derkos

ESCANABA — Joe and Mary (Dubord) Derkos recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married March 4, 1972, at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba.

A small weekend gathering was held at the couple’s home with family and friends on Friday, March 4, and then the Derkos celebrated with dinner on Saturday at Fresh water Tavern.

An anniversary church service was also held at St. Anthony’s in Wells, with a blessing by Fr. Rick Courier

Joe is retired and enjoys fishing, hunting and woodworking.

Mary is retired from Sayklly’s Candy Factory and enjoys camping and traveling. She is a member of St. Anthony Church in Wells.

The couple’s children are Jim (Theresa) Derkos, of Livonia, Mich.; Joey (Kari) Derkos, of Clarkston, Mich.; and Amy (Matt) Prey of Escanaba. They also have seven grandchildren.
