Wells couple married for 50 years

Raymond and Mary Delmont

WELLS — Raymond Delmont and Mary Saari were united in marriage on Saturday, July 1, 1967. at St. Joseph’s Church in Perkins.

Attendants for the bride were maid of honor, the late Bonnie (Saari) Berube, bridesmaids, Sherry (Saari) Delke, and Cathy (Saari) Valenta, sisters of the bride.

Best man was Donald Delmont, brother of the groom. Groomsman were Louie Berube, friend of the couple, and Keith Demeuse, cousin of the bride.Anniv Delmont1

The Delmont’s have two daughters, Shannon Marie (Michael) Dutkavich of Gladstone, and Jodi Rae (Matthew) Berndt of Weston, Wis. They also have three granddaughters, Chloe and Allie Berndt, and Ashely Dutkavich.

Mary’s parents were Oscar and Dorothy (Demeuse) Saari of Rock.

Ray’s parents were Charles and Emma (LaChance) of Little Lake, Mich.

Mary was employed at Sav-Mor, First National Bank in Marquette, Gwinn State Bank in Gwinn, and Northern Motor Rebuilders in Escanaba. Mary also worked at home as a secretary for Ray’s accounting business for 45 years.

Ray attended Bay College and Northern Michigan University. He passed his CPA exam in 1973. Ray was employed by Lawrence Scudder accounting firm in Marquette, Schneider Larche Haapala CPA’s accounting firm in Escanaba, State Wide Real Estate and was the CFO at Besse Forest Products in Gladstone. Ray also worked in his home CPA office for 45 years.

Ray and Mary retired in 2006. During the winter they enjoy spending time at their home in Florida. In the summer, they like camping around the U.P., spending time at the Saari farm in Rock, and being with family and friends, especially the granddaughters. They are planning on going on a Disney cruise with their family and granddaughters to celebrate their golden anniversary.
