Couple celebrates 70 years

Laurence and Irene St. Martin

GLADSTONE — A Gladstone couple, Laurence and Irene St. Martin celebrated 70 years of marriage on Aug. 23.

Laurence St. Martin married the former Irene Le Gault on Aug. 23, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Church in Milwaukee, Wis. The best man was the bride’s brother, Art Le Gault. Friend of the bride, Mrs. Elaine Seguin was matron of honor. Also attendants in the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Owsainy, sister and brother-in-law of the groom.

Mr. St. Martin is retired from the Soo Line Railroad where he was an engineer. The couple are members of All Saints Church in Gladstone, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Marine Corps League, American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus. Irene has been an active volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Society since 1984.

The couple have three children, James (Pat) St. Martin of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Bob (Patti) St. Martin of Escanaba, and Gale St. Martin of Gladstone, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
