Hubert’s celebrate 50 years

Richard and Donna Hubert

ESCANABA — Richard and Donna (Anderson) Hubert of Escanaba are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was wed on Monday, Dec. 26, 1966, at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba.

Original attendants for the wedding were Judy (Bellefeuil) Sabourin, friend of the bride; Delores (Anderson) Metzger, sister of the bride; Tom Hubert, brother of the groom; and Jack Seppanen, brother-in-law of the groom.

They were married while Richard was on leave from the U.S. Navy. He finished his tour aboard the USS Walke out of Long Beach, Calif., while Donna remained at home.

After serving in the Navy for four years with two West-Pac tours including operations in Vietnam, Dick was hired by Mead Corporation. He retired as a maintenance supervisor in June 2001, after 33 years of service.

Donna was employed as a secretary at Mead Corporation and later, as the children came along, decided to be a stay-at-home Mom – and loved it!

They have done some traveling since retirement, but enjoy being at home and near family.

They have three sons: Richard (Karen) Hubert, Jr. of Cornell, Reade (Roni) Hubert of Rapid River, and Roderick (Paula) Hubert of Combined Locks, Wis.

They also have five grandsons and three granddaughters.

To celebrate their anniversary, they had dinner with the entire family over the holidays.anniv-hubert2
