NEW LIFE

ESCANABA — Morning worship services on Sunday are at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., and nursery is available for both services. A variety of children and adult discipleship groups are offered in both small and large group settings with specific needs in mind. “Connections” fellowship is held immediately following each service.

Men’s Bible study gathers Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Christian men’s fellowship coffee hour follows at 8:15 p.m. at Culver’s.

Ladies luncheon will be held the second Tuesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stonehouse.

Student ministries for sixth- through 12th-graders is from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

HYDE/POWERS — The third Sunday in Advent will be celebrated at St. Paul’s 8:30 a.m. worship service. Pastor Ronald Zindler will preside and preach on the Gospel reading for this Sunday, Matthew 11: 2-11, and Jesus’ answer to imprisoned John the Baptist’s question of whether Jesus really is the Christ of God. What are you looking for when it comes to meaning for your life? The Lord’s Supper will also be celebrated. Coffee and conversation follows the service at St. Paul’s. BARK RIVER — The third Sunday of Advent worship begins at 9 a.m. and will focus on the following scriptures: Isaiah 35:1-10; Luke 1:47-55; James 5:7-10; Matthew 11:2-11.

ESCANABA — The annual Cookie Walk will take place today, starting at 10 a.m. and going until the cookies run out.

On the third Sunday of Advent, the choirs will present a music program during the service. Sunday school for kids and adults is at 10:45 a.m., with the kids practicing for their program. Christmas caroling with folks from Central UMC starts at that church at 2:45 p.m., with Bishop Noa the destination at 3 p.m. The youth ministry for grades 8 through 12 will meet at the parsonage at 7 p.m.

Handbell Choir and Chancel Choir are on vacation for the rest of the year.

The kids will present a Christmas play during the service next Sunday, Dec. 18, and followed by a pot luck luncheon, with ham provided.

FORD RIVER — Pastor Jay’s adult and the children’s Sunday school classes both start at 9 a.m. Worship service is at 10 a.m. Junior Church and nursery are provided. Coffee and fellowship follow the service.

Prayer meeting is held Thursday at 6 p.m. The monthly board meetings are the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.

There are alternating Men’s and Women’s Prayer breakfasts on the third Saturday of each month

CHRISTIAN CHURCH

ESCANABA — Sunday school for all ages is at 9 a.m. The Sunday worship service, led by Terry Steinmetz, follows at 10 a.m. Pastor Mark Highum will deliver the message, titled “Give Me Jesus for Christmas — God’s Christmas Presence.” Holy Communion is offered with the meditation by Keith Mattson, and junior church is available.

The women’s Bible study is now meeting on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., studying the Book of Luke. Mary G. is the contact person at 786-4133.

There is a youth ministry, The Vision, on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It is open to all junior and senior high students. Call Terry at 789-4301 with any questions.

ESCANABA — Worship services start at 10:30 a.m., and nursery is provided. Classes for K-12 are offered during the sermon.

Men’s Bible study is on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Men’s Connect meets the last Saturday of every month for breakfast, Bible study and to do projects.

ESCANABA — Sunday morning worship begins at 10 a.m. with a message by Pastor Lobsinger. Sunday school for adults and children will be followed by prayer for the sick. Food, games and fun will follow the worship service.

Bible study with Pastor Lobsinger takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday.

FIRST

ESCANABA — “Breakfast for a Buck” will be served from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m each Sunday. The Sanctuary Choir will rehearse at 9 a.m. At 9 a.m., junior and high school youth will meet in the upper room for a continuing DVD discussion with Ross Rahoi and Aubree Peterson. Elementary ages will meet with Paddy Fitch at 9:15 a.m. and adult Bible study is at 9:30 a.m. in Westminster Hall. The 10:30 a.m. worship service on the third Sunday of Advent will be led by Rev. Dr. Cheryl Duke, Liturgist, Beth Wilson and musical offering will be given by Bill Rinne and Music Director, D. Ann Wood.

Childcare with Bible stories is available in the nursery from 10 a.m. to noon for children aged infant through preschool.

The Advent concert will take place at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. All are welcome.

Prayer meeting takes place Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the school.

Christian school is available for grades K-8. Grades 1-8 meet from 8 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Kindergarten meets from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
