Foul play not a factor in Esky shooting death

ESCANABA — Foul play is not suspected to be a factor in the death of a male who died from a gunshot wound and whose body was found in an Escanaba apartment last month, according to Escanaba Public Safety.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 400 block of South 14th St. at 1:12 a.m. on Oct. 26 in response to a report of a gunshot wound. Michigan State Police Crime Lab technicians were notified to collect evidence at the scene as a precautionary measure.

Following further investigation, Escanaba Public Safety issued a news release saying, “…foul play does not appear to be a determining factor for the death but alcohol may have been a contributing factor.”

Additional interviews are being conducted in the ongoing investigation, police added.
