Esky graduates enlist in the U.S. Army Reserves

ESCANABA –Three graduates from Escanaba High School have enlisted in the  United States Army Reserve under the Delayed Enlistment Program.

Madeleine R. Willis, Mohammed D. Hoque, and Timothy A. Skytta all have joined the program, which allows them the opportunity to delay reporting for military training for up to 270 days while they complete their educations and make preparations for military service.

An enlistment in the Reserve gives many students a chance to learn a new skill, serve their country, as well as become eligible for more than $37,440 towards their college education and $50,000 for repayment of qualifying college loans.

In addition, completion of basic training allows most soldiers to receive advanced individual training in their career jobs specialties prior to be assigned their reserve units.

Willis and Sytta will report to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. for basic training in June. Hoque reported to Fort Benning, Ga. in November.

Madeleine is the daughter of Thomas and Lisa Willis, and sister to Ben Willis of Escanaba. She is a 2017 graduate of Escanaba High School.

Mohammed is the son of Dorothy Hoque of Wells and is a 2016 graduate of Escanaba.

Timothy is the son of Justine Skytta of Escanaba and is a 2017 graduate of Escanaba High School.
