ESCANABA — Three Bay College basketball players were selected to the 2018-19 NJCAA Region 13 All-Region team.

Alfonzo Fields was selected on the men’s team and Jordan Kraemer of Norway and Paige Welch of Bark River-Harris were selected on the women’s team.

Fields led the Norse with 12.6 points per game. He shot 40.5 percent from the floor, including 39.2 percent from the three-point line. He also led the team in rebounding, averaging 6.1 boards and ended the season with 81 assists, 48 steals and 14 blocks.

Kraemer led the women’s team with 17.2 points per contest and 6.8 rebounds.

She connected on 47.7 percent of her shots from the field and converted 82.1 percent of her free throw attempts. She finished with 56 steals, 55 assists and 11 blocked shots.

She had the first perfect shooting game in Norse history, going a combined 21-of-21 from the field and free throw line for a season-high 31 points in just 24 minutes in a 76-58 home win over Bryant & Stratton College Feb. 9.

Then on Feb. 13 she surpassed 1,000 points at home against Gogebic Community College.

Welch averaged 5.1 points and 2.5 rebounds for the Norse. She was second on the team in assists and steals with 56 assists and 44 steals.

Welch started in all 29 games and was second on the team in minutes played, averaging 19.2.
