Eichhorn tied 9th at state open
MENASHA, Wis. — Hunter Eichhorn of Carney is tied for ninth place after the opening round of the Wisconsin State Open golf tournament at North Shore Golf Club.
Eichhorn opened with two birdies and finished with 1-under-par 69. He is four strokes behind first-round leader Chad Sandee of Sheboygan. Eichhorn, who won the Upper Peninsula Golf Association men’s tournament recently, shot 34-35.
Scott LeMire of Appleton, an Escanaba native, opened with a 4-over-par 74 and is tied for 60th place.
The field of 156 players will be cut to low 60 and ties after today’s round and that group will play 36 holes Wednesday.
