ECC women’s Ryder Cup

ESCANABA — Two former Upper Peninsula Ladies Golf Association champions combined to win the women’s Ryder Cup at Escanaba Country Club Thursday.

Karen Plaisier and Kendra (Palmer) Anderson teamed to shoot 72 in the bestball, scramble, alternate shot format.

Plaisier, a U.P. Sports Hall of Fame inductee, has one UPLGA title while Anderson has two.

Barb Scott and Polly Anderson of Escanaba finished second with 73 while JoAnne Poncino of Iron Mountain and Zoe Woodworth of Calumet were third with 74.

Finishing fourth were Nancy Osier of Wakefield and Cathy Shamion of Ontonagon, at 76.

Flight winners:

First – Donna Gunnville-Wendy Schuelke, 82; Second – Cheryl Smith-Cindy Gersich 88; Third – Sandi Dagenais-Shirley Gollach, 95; Fourth – Berta Benson-Debbie Taylor 101.
