ESCANABA — The Escanaba softball team proved it is the best Division 2 team in Michigan after winning the state championship last Saturday in East Lansing.

But the Eskymos also are one of the top 50 high school softball teams in the nation, according to the website FloSoftball.com.

The Eskymos (31-3) are listed at No. 50 in the final FAB 50 national rankings released Thursday. Esky is the only team from Michigan in the final rankings.

Clarkston previously was ranked No. 31, but fell out of the rankings. Division I champion Caledonia was listed as a bubble team, along with Sun Prairie, Wis.
