Escanaba gets DH split at Ashwaubenon

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. — The Escanaba Eskymo took advantage of 13 walks, posting a 16-6 baseball victory over the Ashwaubenon Jaguars in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.

Ashwaubenon took the nightcap 2-1.

The Eskymos collected eight hits and took advantage of 13 walks in the opener.

Esky exploded for eight runs in the seventh inning, including a three-run double by Garrett LaMarche finished with two hits as did John Schlenvogt, who rapped a home run and drove in four runs.

Schlenvogt also took the win, striking out seven, walking three and allowing a run on four hits through five innings. LaMarche fanned two, walked two and gave up four runs on four hits in the final two frames.

Courage Krueger, who took the loss in the nightcap, whiffed seven, walked one and surrendered both runs on eight hits through six frames. LaMarche walked one in the final inning.

The Jaguars scored a run in each of the first two innings before Esky scored on Austin Willette’s ground out in the fourth.

Esky (14-6), which finished with five hits, hosts Bark River-Harris for Parents’ Night Tuesday at 5.
