Second-half comeback lifts Norse
SAULT STE. MARIE — The Bay College men’s basketball team relied on Dre Tuominen’s 37 points and a second-half comeback Monday night in a 92-81 win against the host Lake Superior State University JV squad.
The Lakers, who led 47-37 at halftime, owned a 16-point advantage in the second half. Behind Tuominen, Bay went on a 22-6 run to tie the game at 68-68 with just over nine minutes to play. Tuominen, the Negaunee freshman guard, hit 10 of 12 shots from the field in the second half en route to 27 points while grabbing six rebounds.
The Norse put the game away with a late 17-6 run after breaking another tie at the 5:25 mark.
Tuominen finished with 37 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Milwaukee 6-foot-10 freshman Kobi Barnes contributed 18 points and eight rebounds and Escanaba freshman Tyler Willette chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Jackson Schrameyer led the Lakers with 35 points and 14 rebounds and Brandon Allen drilled eight 3-pointers en route to 26 points.
Bay travels Wednesday to Appleton, Wis., to face the Lawrence JVs.
