North Central girls blow by Norway

Girls basketball

NORWAY — The North Central girls ended their regular season on a positive note Friday night as they rallied past Norway 52-40 in a Skyline Central Conference basketball game.

Norway led 21-14 at halftime, but the Jets 37-34 after the third quarter.

“We were a little slow in the first half,” said Jets’ coach Lee Vincent. “We got the right combination in there and really picked it up in the third quarter. They were a little more physical than we were and it took a little while for us to adjust to what they were doing.”

Andie Arsenault led the Jets (10-10) with 19 points. Bree Arsenault hit 11 and Delaney Smith had three steals. Haley Clifford had eight points for Norway (6-14).

“The Arsenault sisters played real well and Taylor Poupore is only five feet tall and got eight rebounds for us,” said Vincent. “We played pretty good team defense and our fast break worked and that’s what got us ahead. A few of our players had the flu and got tired at times.”

North Central, which also won the jayvee contest 31-28, hosts North Dickinson in its Class D district opener Wednesday.
