Munising boys rout Big Bay

GARDEN CORNERS — The Munising Mustangs were on pace to score 100 points in the first half as they made a dozen 3-pointers all night in an 88-39 win against host Big Bay.

The Mustangs (11-1, 6-1 Skyline Central Conference) jumped out to a 34-14 lead after one quarter, extending it to 54-18 by halftime. Four players scored in double figures, all hitting multiple triples.

Senior Cade Contreras led the way with 17 points and three 3-pointers, junior Anthony Mattson added 16 points with two triples, senior Alec Blank scored 13 points and hit three treys, while junior Logan Waldron punched in 11 points with two long-range bombs.

Alex LaLonde paced the Black Bears (1-12, 0-10) with 14 points, while Nolan Raredon added 10.

Munising travels to Mid Peninsula on Friday before its big league showdown at home against Rapid River next Tuesday.
