SAULT STE. MARIE — The Gladstone girls’ swimmers won 8-of-12 events Thursday, scoring 135 points. The Braves were followed by Sault Ste. Marie 109 and Rudyard 71.

Gladstone’s Kylie Williams captured the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races. Other winners include Abby Rouleau in the 200 individual medley, Sydney Herioux (50 freestyle), Taylor McFarlane (100 freestyle), Claire Tembruell (100 backstroke) and its 200 medley and freestyle relays.

Charlie Wilson copped the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke events, leading the Braves past Sault 132-109 in a dual meet.

Also winning were Isaac Berthaume in 100 butterfly, Andrew Dykema (100 breaststroke), Garrett McMillan (500 freestyle) and the 400 freestyle relay.

“The kids overall had a good meet,” said Braves’ coach Tom Desy. “They have been working hard the past couple weeks. We did get another qualifier for the U.P. Finals (Feb. 17 in Marquette) and some best times.”
