Bay gets sweep of UW-Marinette

MARINETTE — A huge fourth quarter proved helpful to the Bay College women Wednesday night in a 62-47 basketball victory over Wisconsin-Marinette.

The Norse trailed 37-35 after the third stanze, then outscored Marinette 27-10 in the fourth.

Jordan Kraemer led the Norse (12-10) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Justice Kinnunen and Caitlin Heweitt scored 11 points apiece and Paige Welch and Teidra Fuson had 10 each.

Kinnunen collected five steals. Welch had five assists and Hewitt added four.

Both teams finished with 43 rebounds.

Bay sank 21-of-62 field goals and committed 15 turnovers. Marinette (10-7) was 18-of-57 from the field and had 18 miscues. The Norse held a 21-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

The Bay men scored four in double digits in an 83-76 victory.

Dre’ Tuominen paced the Norse (16-7) with 19 points and five assists. Kobi Barnes added 18 points and 15 rebounds. Alfonzo Fields finished with 18 points and five steals and Marcus McKenney had 17 points.

Marinette (12-8) held a 49-41 rebounding advantage, hit 27-of-71 shots and had 22 turnovers.

The Norse were 31-of-70 from the floor and had 13 miscues.

Both Bay College teams host Silver Lake College Friday night and UW-Fox Valley Saturday for homecoming weekend.
