Bay Audition Day set for baseball, softball

ESCANABA — The first Bay College Baseball/Softball Audition Day is set for Saturday, March 3 at the Hannahville Ice and Turf Complex.

The auditions — conducted in a showcase style format — will be under the direction of Norse baseball coach Mike Pankow and Norse softball coach Heidi Charon. Softball workouts will begin at 10 a.m. and baseball workouts at 12:30 p.m.

Student-athletes are asked to be in attendance at least 15 minutes prior to the start for check-in. Athletes that have any interest in attending Bay College and possibly playing baseball or softball next season are strongly encouraged to attend.

Prospective student-athletes will not only get a chance to meet the head coaches, but will be allowed to demonstrate their skills in fielding, hitting, throwing, pitching, and running in a two-hour time slot.

Per NJCAA rules “a prospective student-athlete must have completed his/her junior year in high school or home school equivalent to participate in an audition.” Prospective student athletes also must be able to provide verification that he/she has received a physical examination in the past 13 months prior to the event.

Student-athletes are being asked to register by Feb. 28. The online registration form can be located by going to the baseball and softball pages on www.baynorse.com. Athletes attending are required to bring their own glove and athletic attire, and are encouraged to bring their own bats and catchers gear when applicable.

Any baseball questions should be directed at Mike Pankow, while softball questions will be fielded by Heidi Charon.
