Big half lifts BR-H

Boys basketball

MANISTIQUE — Bark River-Harris turned up its game a few notches in the second half Tuesday en route to a 71-38 nonconference boys basketball victory.

Ryan Arndt hit three straight 3-pointers and Ben Schultz hit another as the Broncos opened up a 29-21 halftime lead. BR-H outscored the Emeralds 26-10 in the third quarter.

“We got outhustled and gave up too many layups,” Manistique coach Ed Marietti said. “They run the floor well and they us an 8-9 man rotation. Our start was good, but they still call it a four-quarter game.”

Arndt led the Broncos with 20 points and Hunter Debelak chipped in with 10 points for BR-H, which had 10 players score in a balanced attack. Matt Richer also grabbed six rebounds.

Kanton Lauzon led the Emeralds with 13 points and Schuler Andersen supplied eight points and seven rebounds. Manistique was plagued by 23 turnovers.

Both teams had 26 rebounds.

BR-H also won the JV game 53-48 in overtime.

The Broncos travel to Carney Thursday, while Manistique travels to Ishpeming Friday and hosts Big Bay de Noc Saturday.
