Bay women fall to Silver Lake 70-56

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Playing catch-up didn’t work out for the Bay College women Friday night as they dropped a 70-56 basketball decision to Silver Lake College.
“We didn’t play well and were down 14-0 right off the bat,” said Bay coach Rae Drake, Jr. “We didn’t do what we were supposed to do on defense. I thought we were slow getting out on their shooters. They were ready for us and took it to us early.”
Jordan Kraemer led the Norse (8-7) with 27 points. She hit 7-of-12 field goals and 13-of-14 free throws. Teidra Fuson added 14 points.
“Jordan had a great game,” said Drake. “She was double and triple-teamed sometimes. To do that was quite an accomplishment. It was fun to watch her tonight. Teidra has been taking shots closer to the basket and shown a big improvement finishing shots.”
Dainelle Byrum paced Silver Lake with 16 points. Ashley Rumblow and Dainelle Buck had 12 each.
Bay hit 17-of-51 field goals, including 3-of-19 from 3-point range, and committed just seven turnovers.
“We’ve done a good job that way (ball handling),” said Drake. “Defensively, we had some mental errors and they got some easy ones. We can play better. Tonight, we have UW-Maranthon County coming in. We have a chance to redeem ourselves.”
