Women’s softball

ESCANABA — Elmer’s County Market defeated RRL 12-4 and 11-1 Thursday in the Escanaba Women’s Slowpitch Softball League.

In the first game Elmer’s led 2-1 after the first inning and scored seven runs in the second inning en route to a 12-4 victory.

Candy Swetkis led Elmer’s going 4-4 and Natasha Taylor added three hits. Laurel Ashbrook, Amber Quigley, Kendyl Miller and Lorrie Botruff added two hits.

Melissa Schimke had three hits for RRL.

In Game 2 Elmer’s got off to a hot start as it scored eight runs in the first inning to win 11-2 over RRL.

Brenda Madden led Elmer’s going 3-4 with a double and a triple. Anne Okonek went 2-3 with two doubles and Sam Paradise was 2-3. Kendyl Miller also had two hits including a triple for Elmer’s.

Kaela Cretens and Kelly Rickel both had two hits for RRL.
