Eskymos sweep Redettes

ESCANABA — The Escanaba softball team proved too much for Marquette Thursday, sweeping the visiting Redettes 7-5 and 11-0 on Seniors Night.

In the opener, Esky totaled nine hits, led by Savanah Barron with two hits.

Katie Ross worked the first five innings, allowing five runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Gabi Salo finished the last two innings, giving up one one, one walk with four strikeouts.

Esky catcher Taylor Segorski also threw out two Marquette base runners on steal attempts.

In Game 2, the Eskymos scored eight runs in the first inning with all six seniors crossing the plate. Ross led Esky’s 13-hit attack with three hits including a homer and Lexi Chaillier also went 3-for-3.

Salo went the distance with no hits and 10 strikeouts. The only base runner she allowed reached after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning.
