Esky honors scholar athletes

ESCANABA — A quartet of high-achieving student-athletes was honored Wednesday at the Escanaba High School Athletic Banquet.

Recipients of the Pfotenhauer/Gessner Scholarship Award were Christopher Barron and Jennifer Brandt. The award, first started in 1924, is given to a male and female senior athlete who’ve contributed the most to EHS in athletics. Barron excelled in football, basketball and baseball, while Brandt was a standout in volleyball, basketball and track and field.

Recipients of the Gary Abrahamson Sr. Athletic Scholarship Award were Chris LeMire and Michaela Bougie. This award is given to the male and female senior athlete earning the most varsity athletic letters with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
