Braves overcome slow start

Prep baseball

COLEMAN, Wis. – The Gladstone baseball team shook off a slow start and rolled to a 9-4 win against Southern Door, Wis., Saturday in a game played at Coleman.

The Braves spotted Southern Door a 4-0 lead in the second inning before scoring two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and adding three in the seventh.

“We started slow, the kid weren’t focused,” Gladstone coach Don Lauscher said. “We got down 4-0, we had a pep talk with them and they got going. Once we scored a few runs, the bats got going.”

Gladstone totaled nine hits.

Braeden Lamberg had a big game with four hits, including two triples, and two RBIs. Tyson Seymour collected three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs.

Seymour worked six innings for the victory, allowing one hit and walking five.

Sophomore Ben Kelly pitched the seventh and struck out two.

Gladstone (21-4), travels to Negaunee Wednesday for a doubleheader.
